Aces head to St. Catharines

The Aces and Speed Sharks joined forces to compete as the Waterloo-Oxford Association at the Walker Invitational in St.Catharines this past weekend.

The meet had 250 swimmers from eight teams, including a team from Bermuda and a team from the US. The remaining teams were from Southern Ontario.

Alex Buehlow and Brooke Davidson led the team with five golds and one bronze each. Buehlow broke six club records while Davidson broke three. First time competitive team members were; Adriana Decker, who had a best placing of 19th in the highly competitive 11-12 age group; Sam Hesch had some great swims in his first competitive meet with an 11th place finish in the 100 br; Ally Govier, showed she will be a force to be reckoned with in the 10 and under girls as she won a bronze medal in the 100 fly; and Jacob Isaac, 8, also swam in his first competitive meet finishing with two 8th places in the 10 and under age group. Other medalist for the team included: Zachary Sanders, 10, gold in 50 br, Kristopher Sanders, two gold, two silver and two 4ths and Mary Tilford with three silver and one bronze. The 11-12 boys relay of Sam Hesch, Jacob Isaac, Caleb Isaac and Alex Buehlow won gold and the 13-14 boys relay of Kris Sanders, Derek Govier, Sam Hesch and Alex Buehlow won gold.

Next on the schedule is the Brantford International meet Nov. 9-11 and both New Hamburg and Ingersoll host Aqua 7 meets on Nov. 18.
