Aces take on Stratford

Published on Jan 23, 2008

The Aces played host to the Stratford Kinsmen Y swim team Jan. 13 in Aqua 7 action. The Aces had some great swims coming from all ages in the pool.

Eight-year-old Jacob Isaac sent the lone club record in the 100 IM. Celine Funk, swimming in her first meet as a competitive swimmer, had 100 per cent best times, as did Tyler Kinzie, Alexandria Jackman and Gavin Tessier. Jayden Wood had three of four best times only missing in the one when her cap and goggles fell off. Most time off in the meet went to five-year-old Sammi Sekulin who dropped over 38 seconds from her four swims. Four-year-olds Abagale Mathews, Maxim and Ryan Bossy all swam great, taking off time in one of their events with the boys, splitting the races at first and second each.

Abagale was third in her events in the six-and-under category. The 13-and-over swimmers used the meet in preparation for this coming weekend in Etobicoke.

Twelve year old Blythe Mackie got her qualifying time for the East Coast Championships in PEI. Others will be looking to qualify on the weekend. A very busy February schedule is coming up with championship meets across the province.

Brooke Davidson will be competing in her first Senior Provincials meet at the University of Toronto.

Davidson has qualified for the Eastern National Championships for the first time. This meet will be held in Etobicoke the second weekend of February. Regionals are being hosted by Brantford the first weekend in February.
