Aces compete

The Aces competed in three different meets last weekend. Brooke Davidson swam in her first Senior Provincial meet. The meet is swam long course in the short course season as the Olympics are a long course meet. Brooke swam the 100 fly and 200 IM setting a new club record in the 200 IM. From the University of Toronto pool, we travelled to Etobicoke where Brooke was one of twelve Aces to swim at the AB meet. Brooke  swimming in the A pool won the 50 fly, was second in 100 fly, fourth in 100 bk, 6th in 200 bk and 400 IM. Alex Buehlow also swimming A pool set a club record in the 1500 fr. Alex finished 5th in 100 fly, 6th in 200 fr, 7th in 200 fly and 8th in 100 fr. Andrew Warr was the other A pool swimmer. Andrew set a new club record in the 200 fly with a 5th place finish.

Kristopher Sanders was ready to race dropping almost two minutes in seven events. Kristopher swimming his off events finished first in 400 IM and 50 br, 2nd in 1500 fr and 400 fr, t3rd in 100 fly and 4th in 100 fr. Taffin Sekulin and Dylan Riddell had 100% best times. Taffin swam her first ever 1500 fr race and did a great job with this event. Dylan qualified for Regionals in the 100 back an event he has not competed at for many years. Erica Buehlow picked up a first in the 200 fly, third in 400 IM and 200 br, 4th in 1500 fr, 5th in 100 br and 8th in 50 fly. Derek Govier also swam his first 1500 fr finishing third in that event. Lindsay Gutoskie rounded out the first time 1500 fr swimmers with a 9th in that event and an 8th in the 200 fly. Sarah Sine looked great in the water and picked up 6th in the 400 IM, Laura Warr made a East Coast Champs qualifying time in the 400 fr and Vicky Whiteside made the 400 IM at Regionals.

The 12 and under swimmers were in London for the weekend. Many great swims were seen in the meet. Celine Funk, 9 swimming in her first competitive meet qualified for Regional champs in Brantford Feb 1-3. Celine had a best placing of 10th in the 50 fr. Elise Funk 11, also had a best placing of 10th but is looking great in her sprint freestyle events. Ally Govier, 10  had several great swims recording 100% best times and finishing 6th in 50 fr, 200 bk , 100 fr and 400 fr, 7th in 200 IM and 8th in 200 br. Sam Hesch, 12,continues to take off loads of time, Sam recorded a 7th in the 50 bk. Caleb Isaac 11, took off over 71 sec in his swims and had a best placing of 9th. Jacob Isaac 8 finished 2nd in the 50 bk and third in 100 br, 100 fly, 50 br, 50 fly and 400 fr. Jacob set a new club record in the 400 fr. Blythe Mackie, 12,  took off the most time in the meet with some great swims. Her best placings were 4th in 100 fly and 6th in 50 fly . Meghan Mackie, 11, took off over 50 sec with a best placing of 13th in 200 bk. Madison Sekulin who started the season a little late this year took off over 66 sec and swams some great races. Madison's best finish was 17th in the 200 bk.

Congratulations to all swimmers for the hard work you did at Christmas paid off this weekend.
