Aces combine with Ingersoll in meet

The
Wilmot Aces and Ingersoll Speed Sharks combined to compete as WOA on
the weekend and came up with big results. The team finished 10th out of
26 teams. Club records were broken by Brooke Davidson in 100 and 200
back and by Blythe Mackie in the 100 and 200 fly. Brooke Davidson had a
great meet qualifying for Eastern Nationals in her second event the 200
backstroke. Along with this she also qualified for Age Group Nationals
in the event and Provincials. Davidson has been working really had this
season to qualify for the Olympic Trials in Montreal in April. She has
another month to make these times and will be competing in Etobicoke
next weekend at the Eastern National Championships. The best swimmers
from Ontario to the east coast will be competing from Feb 14-17. Brooke
won gold in four events on the weekend.
Alex Buehlow who was unable to swim his best events on the weekend
because he already had Provincials in them showed that you can also do
well in your off events. Buehlow qualified for Provincials and Age
group Nationals in several events while winning gold in four events,
and silver in two.
Blythe Mackie made her first Provincial time in the tough 200 fly
event picking up silver medals in both fly events. Dylan Riddell
qualified in the 50 bk and Lindsay Gutoskie in 400 IM to attend the
East Coast Championship taking place at the end of Feb in Charlottetown
PEI, he will be joined by seven other members of the ACES. Kristopher
Sanders picked up the other team medal with a bronze place finish in
the 100 br. The team had many great swims with Celine Funk recording
100 per cent best times in her first Regional meet. Erica Buehlow was
fourth in the 200 br, Jaime Doucet was 11th in 800 fr, Elise Funk 19th
in 50 fr, Ally Govier was fourth in 200 fr and 400 fr and eighth in 200
bk, Lindsay Gutoskie 8th 400 IM, Meghan Mackie was 10th in 200 bk,
Dylan Riddell eighth in 200 bk, Zachary Sanders was fifth in 50 br,
Sarah Sine 31st in 100 bk, and Vicky Whiteside was 14th in 400 IM. Next
weekend the team travels to Guelph to compete in the Owen Sound
Challenge.
