Eight
members of the Aces and Seven members of the Speed Sharks combined as
WOA to compete at the East Coast Swimming Championships in
Charlottetown PEI.
The team finished an impressive 9th out of 29 teams and had some spectacular swims.
Kristopher Sanders who just turned 15 competed in the challenging 15
and over category. Racing at times swimmers 7 years old them him,
Sanders took off the most time at the meet for the Aces and finished
with a best result of 9th in the 200 br. His 800 fr time set a new club
record. Brooke Davidson broke three club records on way to some great
swims.
Davidson was second in the 100 fly and fell just short of making the
Olympic cut time. She was also third in the exciting 50 fly final that
had all swimmers within 10ths of a second of each other. Her other
placing included 7th in 100 bk, 4th in 200 fly and 200 bk, and 6th in
50 bk.
We congratulate Davidson on setting such a hard goal and in a year
going from being a Regional swimmer to making her first Junior and
Senior Provinical meets, first Eastern National meet and first Age
Group National meet.
We know she will make the Olympic Standard, if not this year for
sure in four years from now. Alex Buehlow races in a very fast 13-14
age group.
Buehlow was third in the 1500 fr, third in the 50 fly, second in a
great 200 fly swim that has him ranked fourth in Canada as a 13 year
old, fourth in 100 fly, fifth in 100 fr and sixth in 200 fr.
He set a new club record in the 200 fly.
Our final medalist in able bodied of the meet was 12-year-old Blythe Mackie.
Blythe swam the partners in pain events twice in one day finishing third in the 200 fly and seventh in the 400 IM.
She was also fourth in the 50 fly, and 5th in 800 fr. Both the 100 fly and 200 fly were new club records.
