Wilmot Aquatic Aces lead the lanes at Aqua 7 finals

Many of the youngest ACES competed in the Aqua 7 Final on May 3.
Leading the way for the ACES was Alex Buehlow, and Brooke Davidson with three first each.
The ACES had a tough time defending their title this year as the
points were calculated differently with the division of Novice and
Competitive classes. This made it difficult for a team with half-novice
and half-competitive to win the meet. However, each swimmer is to be
commended for the great job they did in the meet. The youngest member,
four-year-old Abagale Mathews, swam great getting two fifth place
finishes in the six-and-under age category.
Maxim Bossy, five, took sixth place in free and eighth in back and
tried butterfly for the first time. Six-year-old Caitlyn Armstrong has
shown that she will be someone to reckon with as she gets older in the
swimming world. Armstrong got two second place finishes and a fifth.
Eight-year-old Jay Funk had some great swims getting first in fly, second in fr and fourth in bk.
Rachel Woolvett, seven, she has the determination of someone much
older. It is Woolvett's first year with the Aces and she won the fly
event at the final and took second in br and sixth in bk.
Her brother Damon Woolvett, eight, is also a first year ACE and matched his sister with a first in bk and seconds in br and fly.
Nine-year-old Jayden Wood swam some great swims and got a fourth, fifth and eighth.
First year swimmer Kaitlyn Ulmer, nine, finished third in two events and fifth in the fr.
Ten-year-old Josh Cober looked great as he won the free and fly
events and got second in bk. Nine-year-old Sara Kinzie just moved into
this age category and got a seventh and eighth. Her brother Tyler also
just moved up an age group and he got a seventh in 50 br.
Twelve-year-old Anissa Malthaner was eighth in the 50 fly.
Twelve year old Nicholas Bailey recorded 100 per cent best times and was third in two events and fourth in one.
Fourteen-year-old Gavin Tessier rounded out our Novice swimmers.
Tessier was second in two events and fourth in the free. Nine-year-old
Celine is a competitive swimmer and finished second in br, and fourth
in her other two swims. Jacob Isaac, nine, was second in fly and fourth
in fr.
Others who had a great meet were Erica Buehlow with one first and
two thirds, Ally Govier, who just moved up into 11-12, with a best
placing of 12th, Derek Govier with a second and fourth, Sam Hesch with
a fourth and pair of fifths, Caleb Isaac with a second and two thirds,
Taffin Sekulin with a seventh and eighth, and Vicky Whiteside with two
fourths and a fifth.
Sam Hesch has worked hard all year and the meets are really showing
how hard he has been working. Sam keeps taking off more and more time
at every meet. Recently in London, Hesch recorded 100 per cent best
times. Also recording 100 percent best times was Derek Govier, Jacob
Isaac, Dylan Riddell, and Zachary Sanders. Taking off the most time for
the Aces was Meghan Mackie dropping over 100 seconds in the 800
freestyle from the previous time she swam it.
Club records were broken by ten year old Zachary Sanders in the 800 fr and the 200 br.
Medal winners included Sanders in the 50 br and 200 IM both bronze,
Alex Buehlow with two silver and Erica Buehlow with seven gold and one
silver.
Next on the Aces plate are The Guelph Long course meet and Special Olympic Provincials.
The Aces have four swimmers attending the meet: Trevor Mains, 18, Alex Buehlow, 13, Michael Heath, 19, and Erica Buehlow, 16.
The Aces have also just found out the Alex Buehlow and Kristopher
Sanders will be part of the Western Region team for Canada Games. The
Games are being held in Ottawa in August.
