Damon Woolvett competes during a time trial for the junior Aces 1, 2, 3 and Teal Group on Sunday afternoon. The meet gives the young swimmers a chance to set Swim Ontario times in a less competitive environment.

Over the past month or so the Aces have been competing in several meets.

The end of November saw Alex Buehlow, 13, swimming his off events at the Nothers Awards Invitational meet. Alex set two new club records and won all eight events he swam in. Kristopher Sanders 15, also had a great meet, he struck gold in the 50 and 200 br, silver in the 100 br, and bronze in 50 fly, 400fr, and 200 fr. He also got a fourth in 200IM and 50 fr and a 5th in 100 fly. The only other medalist was Derek Govier, 15, who won his first medal ever. Derek was second in the 1,500 fr and sixth in 400 IM. Other top eight finishers included Erica Buehlow, 16, sixth in 800 fr, and 100 br, fourth in 200 br, and seventh in 50 br. Zachary Sanders, 11, was sixth in 800 fr.

Jacob Isaac, 9, was eighth in 50 br, and sixth in 50 fly. Blythe Mackie, 13, was fifth in 200 fly and sixth in 100 fly. Congratulations to Zachary Sanders and Caleb Isaac for recording 100 per cent best times and to Celine Funk for the swim of the meet with 93 seconds off her 200 fr. Jacob Isaac took off the most time over all with 131 seconds.

Two weeks later eight members of the ACes competed at the 28th Annual Youth Cup Championships. The meet attracted over 1,000 swimmers from across Canada and the Cayman Islands. Alex Buehlow turned 14 the day before the meet started and broke four club records with a best placing of ninth in the 200 fly. Erica Buehlow, Meghan Mackie, Lindsay Gutoskie and Vicky Whiteside all swam in their first ever Youth Cup. Kris Sanders had a best finish of 22nd in the 800 fr and Blythe Mackie was 20th in the 200 fly. Meghan Mackie recorded 100 per cent best times.

The Ingersoll Invitational last weekend saw a great many members of the team competing in Ingersoll. BRONZE Zachary Sanders 11, Gavin Tessier, 14, and Elise Funk, 12.

Several members were awarded cash prizes as well for the combined 200IM with Jacob Isaac, 9, second, Elise Funk, 12, second, and Mary Tilford 13, second

Many swimmers swam in their first big meet: Kaitlyn Ulmer, Mackenzie Saar, Damon Woolvett, J. Jay Funk, Rachel Woolvett, and Madeline Woolvett and Anissa Malthaner all did a great job swimming in the meet.
