The Aces competed in two meets over the weekend.
Alex and Erica Buehlow both had great meets earning themselves
nominations to the Canada Games in Prince Edward Island this summer.
Erica had a terrific meet winning two SWAD events and all five
Special Olympic events. Erica broke the meet record in the 100 fly on
day one and was named top SWAD swimmer of the meet. Alex won two
events, tied for first in one and second in two events. Alex also
competed in two 14 year events.
Both swimmers did very well. Erica swam at the 2005 Canada Games in
Regina and won 5 gold, she will be looking to defend her title in all 5
events.
Eight swimmers competed in Charlottetown over the weekend. Meghan
Mackie 12, Ally Govier 11, Elise Funk 12 and Zachary Sanders 11 all
competed in the East Coast Swimming Championships for the first time.
The 12 and under girls joined by Mikaela Elliott won bronze medals in
both the 200m Free relay and 200m Medley relay.
Meghan swam to three top 8 finishes in the 1500 fr, 800 fr and 200
fr, Elise was 7th in the 50 br while Zachary earned an eigth in the 200
fr. Ally had 100 per cent best times in the meet. For the 12 and unders
this meet is very different than in Ontario.
They swim mornings and than finals where in Ontario they only swim in the afternoon.
In the 13-14 girls Mary Tilford earned a 6th in 1500 fr, 5th in 800
fr and 7th in 200 bk. She was also part of the 13-14 girls 400m medley
relay that placed 7th.
In 15 and over Lindsay Gutoskie swam well recording several best
times. Kristopher Sanders in the 15 and over boys had a great meet
recording 100% best times and breaking the 800 fr club record.
He narrowly missed qualifying for Age group Nationals held this
summer in Montreal. Dylan Riddell 17 also had a great meet finishing
11th in the 200 bk and recording 5 out of 6 best times.
The next month will be a time to get ready for the upcoming long
course season. The Aces first meet will be the Julia Wilkinson meet in
St. Marys and Victor Davis meet in Guelph at the beginning of April.
