Aquatic Aces find success

The
Waterloo-Oxford Association held it last two meets of the 2009 year. In
early Dec the Aces and Speed Sharks hosted St. Thomas in New Hamburg.
The team did very well with Grace Cameron (1), Josh Cober (2),
Brooke Davidson (1), Jaime Doucet (1), Jacob Isaac (4), Trevor Mains
(1), Logan Monnikendam (1), Veronica Wawryzn (1) and Damon Woolvett (1)
all breaking Waterloo- Oxford club records.
Those with 100 per cent best times were Dylan Brenneman, Adrienne
Debackere, Oliver Forrest, Brooke Holman, Hudson Holman, Jacob Isaac,
Victoria Lueddeke, Whitney Stone, Lola Vidakovic, Albert Vo, Sarah Vo
and Liberty Walker.
Josh Cober was the stand out of the meet with over 96 seconds off his time.
First place finishers included Nicholas Bailey, Brett Brenneman,
Dylan Brenneman, Lucas Buggey, Grace Cameron, Georgia Clarke, Meredith
Clarke, Josh Cober, Krista Crawford, Brooke Davidson, Jaime Doucet,
Celine Funk, Elise Funk, J. Jay Funk, Ally govier, Caleb Isaac, Jacob
Isaac, Tyler Kinzie, Victoria Lueddeke, Blythe Mackie, Meghan Mackie,
Trevor Mains, Abagale Mathews, Natalie McDougall, Logan Monnikendam,
Matthew Smith, Vanessa Start, Kaitlyn Ulmer, Kayla Vandescheur, Lola
Vidakovic, Albert Vo, Liberty Walker, and Damon Woolvett.
Congratulations team on the win of the meet.
On the weekend of Dec 12-13, the Victoria Community Centre was
hopping with swimmers from Brantford, Simcoe, New Hamburg, Ingersoll,
Tillsonburg, Aylmer, Woodstock and St. Thomas.
The WOA swimmers had a great meet with Jacob Isaac and Hillary Elliott recording 100 per cent best times.
Alex Buehlow (2), Grace Cameron (1), Brooke Davidson (1), Hillary
Elliott (2), Jacob Isaac (7) WOA and (3) WAAC, Trevor Mains (2), Mary
Tilford (1) and Jade Vandescheur (1) association club records were
broken.
The four 50’s are a special event at this meet. Each swimmer swims
all four 50’s and the times are added together to get a cash prize.
This year we had nine winners in the event. Damon Woolvett, Kaitlyn
Ulmer, Hillary Elliott, Kayla Vandescheur, Alex Buehlow and Jaime
Doucet were all second overall while Nicholas Bailey, Mary Tilford and
Mikaela Elliott all recieved first.
High point winners in the meet were: 10-and-under Girls, Georgia
Clarke third overall, 10 - nd-under boys, Jacob Isaac first overall and
J. Jay Funk, second overall, 11-year-old girls Hillary Elliott, second
overall, 12- year-old girls Vanessa Start, second overall, 13- year-old
girls Mikaela Elliott, first, Meghan Mackie, second and Elise Funk,
third.
In 14-year-old girls, Mary Tilford took second overall.
In 14-year-old boys: Nick Bailey first overall and Lucas Buggey second overall.
In 15-and-over girls, Krista Crawford won second overall and Patricia Desrochers third overall.
The meet was a great success and had the Community Centre very busy over the weekend.
In the new year the team will be getting ready for the Championship season in the month of Feb.
